Stephen Tyrovolas was born in 1985 in Tripoli of Arcadia. He graduated from the 2nd High School in 2003. He studied at the Department of Dietetics - Nutrition in Harokopio University (2007) and did his postgraduate studies in Applied Nutrition and Dietetics, in the field of "diet and exercise", which is the corresponding PSP in Harokopio University (2009). In 2013 he completed his doctoral thesis in the field of nutrition and public health, entitled "Providing nutritional and other health services and cardiovascular risk markers in elderly living in insular Greece." For the preparation of his doctoral thesis, he got two scholarships from the Greek Atherosclerosis Society,the Education and the European Cultural Foundation.
He has worked as a research associate in the department of the Department of Dietetics - Nutrition in Harokopio University and expert scientific collaborator EL.I.KAR in the Health Education Programme which is implemented in schools throughout the country sponsored by the Ministry of Education. From 2011 to June 2013 he was in charge of arbitration HND program in Aegean Omiros College and he worked as a lab assistant in the food technology department at the TEI of Kalamata from autumn 2012 to June 2013.
Since July 2013, he has been working as a postdoctoral researcher in the research department of the Parc Sanitari de Sant Joan de Deu, in collaboration with the University of Barcelona, in the research of health services and public health of the elderly population.
His research interests include nutrition and public health, epidemiology of diet and nutrition in old age. Till now he has co-authored 24 papers in peer-reviewed journals and 30 presentations in international and scientific conferences.
